Cardinal offers Plan, Survey, and Engineer services with specific respect to: permits, building codes, zoning, topography and boundaries, land improvements, easements, drainage analysis, septic and sewer, utility placement, construction staking, and project oversight.

Project Engineer

As a project engineer, you will work with our engineering department to complete projects. This begins with pre-planning the project and ends with the construction of it. A project engineer would be responsible for each project being completed accurately and efficiently. Some tasks may be delegated to technicians while other tasks will be your responsibility to complete.

The project engineer would be excellent at communicating with team members and clients, detailed and precise, optimistic and highly motivated. 

Position Overview:

Position Status: Full-Time 

Expected hours of work: 40 hours per week

Salary: Starting at $80,000 

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  1. Professional Engineer License for Wisconsin (or can transfer their license to Wisconsin)
  2. 4 or more years of engineering experience
  3. Proficient in Hydrocad or equivalent
  4. Proficient in WinSLAMM or equivalent
  5. Proficient in Autocad Civil 3D
  6. Capable of project management
  7. Able to professionally communicate with clients
  8. Capable of plan production and creating site, utility and road designs
  9. Able to perform survey and construction inspections

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  1. Consistent communication with team members involved in engineer projects to ensure all steps are completed correctly and efficiently
  2. Project pre-planning
  3. Project basemapping
  4. Site planning, layouts and grade planning
  5. Complete drawings and specifications utilizing Autocad, Hydrocad, etc. 
  6. Utility and stormwater design
  7. Cost estimates and plan reviews
  8. Project delivery
  9. Attend project meetings including public meetings that may take place in the evening as needed
  10. Construction inspection as needed
  11. Communication with the survey department to understand all projects phased between surveying and engineering

Staff Engineer

As a staff engineer, you will complete due diligence to construction on a wide range of projects, including private development, transportation, and municipal engineering. 

You should have a propensity for details, and a commitment to research and foundational oversight. 

Both written and verbal communications skills are vital for positive and productive interaction with Cardinal clients. 

A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with up to four years of work is preferred, including experience with civil engineering design programs.

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Civil3D and other design programs
  • Capable of plan production, and creation of site, utility, and road designs
  • Able to perform survey and construction inspections
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Up to 4 years of experience in civil engineering
Drafting Technician

As a drafting technician, you will work with our engineering and survey department to complete jobs. Jobs are assigned and overseen by the project manager. A drafting technician is responsible for completing each job accurately and efficiently. 

Position Overview:

Position Status: Full-Time 

Expected hours of work: 40 hours per week

Salary: Starting at $50,000 

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • No degree required
  • Entry level or experienced
  • Proficient in Civil3D preferred
  • Capable of drafting survey plats, site plans, and grading plans preferred

    Duties & Responsibilities Include:

    1. Consistent communication with supervisor and team members to ensure each job is prepared for and performed accurately
    2. Draft for engineering and surveying jobs – site plans, CSM’s, plats, grading, utility, build sheets and full plan sets
    Project Surveyor

    As a project surveyor, a “get it done” attitude and high level of organization are central to the job. You will be performing field surveys, construction staking, and office management. 

    In addition to coordinating projects, the project surveyor role includes communicating information to keep the Cardinal staff up-to-date with ongoing developments.

    The project surveyor will be responsible for oversight of field crews, which requires the ability to motivate a team, rain or shine. 

    A licensed professional land surveyor is preferred, with 2 to 4 years of experience. A command of survey design software is necessary to perform the job.  

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Proficient in Carlson SurvPC and CAD
    • Capable of performing field work including boundaries, topography and staking
    • Able to read a map, work in all weather conditions and lift heavy objects
    • Able to coordinate with engineers and other office team members to effectively get jobs completed
    • Capable of project management and oversite of crew chiefs
    • 2-4 years of survey experience
    • A licensed Professional Land Surveyor preferred or soon to achieve
    Survey Crew Chief

    As a survey crew chief, you will work with our survey department to complete survey jobs. Field work is assigned and overseen by the survey manager. A survey crew chief is responsible for completing each field job accurately and efficiently. This position is mostly performed outdoors.

    Position Overview:

    Position Status: Full-Time (permanent or seasonal)

    Expected hours of work: 40 hours per week

    Salary: Starting at $50,000 

    Skills and Experience Requirements:

    1. No degree required
    2. Entry level or experienced
    3. Able to read a map
    4. Able to work in all weather conditions
    5. Able to lift and transport heavy objects
    6. Must have a valid driver’s license
    7. Able to operate survey equipment preferred – Carlson SurvPC, Total Station and GNSS GPS
    8. CAD experience preferred
    9. Experience performing field work preferred

    Duties & Responsibilities Include:

    1. Consistent communication with supervisor and team members to ensure each job is prepared for and performed accurately
    2. Perform outdoor field work including but not limited to staking, plat of survey, boundaries, lot line adjustments and survey with topography
    3. Responsible for completing all assigned tasks 
    4. Responsible for care of all assigned company vehicles and equipment
